We can offer financial assistance to help you get to South Devon UTC, if you live at least 2 miles from the college and are using public transport.
For those eligible for Pupil Premium or post 16 Bursary funding then you are likely to be eligible for a free bus pass or higher train ticket contributions.
We have negotiated ticket prices with Stagecoach so that you can get a Dayrider or Explorer pass for only £300 per year, payable in one go, 3 instalments of £100 per term or £30 per month over 10 months.
If you live in an area without a suitable Stagecoach service and require financial assistance to ensure your travel to college is affordable using a different bus service then please contact us to discuss this further. We are usually able to offer financial support to enable your travel costs to be similar to that of the Stagecoach pass.
South Devon UTC is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Newton Abbot train station and can be a quick and easy way to get to college, particularly if you live in the Exeter area. However, train tickets can be expensive, and even more so at post 16 when students have to pay adult fares. Therefore, our Governors have approved travel bursaries to help ease the costs, dependent upon where you live. These are paid to you in 3 instalments, once per term. It’s also worth looking into season tickets to help reduce train ticket costs.
This table illustrates the annual contributions towards train travel, based upon location. If your town or city isn’t listed here then please contact us to find out what contribution you would be eligible for.
Again, please note if you have a low household income then you may be eligible for Pupil Premium or Post 16 Bursary funding which would enable us to further assist you with travel costs.
If you want to discuss the financial assistance available for travel further then please contact our Student Recruitment team via email@example.com or by calling 01626 240201.
You will be able to apply for travel bursaries and bus passes as part of your information paperwork in the rear of the Student Handbook that is issued to you prior to you starting at South Devon UTC.
