There are forecasts of potential inclement weather this week, predominantly Wednesday and Thursday. The aim of South Devon UTC is to remain open if it is safe for staff and students to travel and to operate the school with sufficient facilities. Many of our staff travel from across Devon and Cornwall, students travel from Devon and Somerset. If the decision is made to close the school on any particular day, it will be made early in the morning on that day and always with the safety of students and staff in mind.
Notification of closure would be made as soon as reasonably possible on the morning of closure and given by 3 means:
a) On the school website across the front page.
b) Via parent mail.
c) Via our facebook page.
There is a possibility that if the numbers of staff are reduced due to travel problems there may be a partial opening for year 11 and year 13, this would be communicated via the same means above. Clearly the weather situation is always fluid and so keeping an eye on the school’s communication routes above is vital. I would ask you though, before making the decision to send your child to school please make a personal judgement around safety on their travel route.
